Free Services Provided at Immigrant Welcome Centers Across Toronto Area

A growing number of new Immigrants from India, China, Pakistan, Russia, USA, West-Indies, Iran and other countries are settling in this area. Helping newcomers adjust to Canadian society is very important for them. If you are a new immigrant in the Toronto area, you may want to familiarize yourself with the Welcome Centre Immigrant Services located in York and Durham Regions. These centers offer free services designed to guide and support immigrants through the maze of information and resources.

Welcome Centers are located in various locations in York and Durham Regions of the Greater Toronto Area. Some Welcome Center locations include Richmond Hill, Markham, Vaughan, Newmarket, Ajax and Pickering. There centers are open Monday to Friday 8:30 am - 4:30 pm. As always, walk-ins are welcome.

These Centers are specially for immigrants and newcomers who require the supports and resources necessary to help them integrate economically and socially into the Canadian labour market.

Core immigrant services include:

Settlement and Integration Services

Assistance with Housing, Health Care, Social Insurance Numbers, Child Care, Community & Government Resources, Basic Needs and more.

English Language Classes

English Classes with Computer Aided Instruction, Childminding and Transportation Allowance for Eligible Candidates.

Accreditation and Qualifications Information

Accreditation Information Assistance and Information for Internationally Trained Professionals, Accreditation Portfolio Assistance and Action Plans.

Employment Support Services

Job Search Workshops, Resume Assistance, Return to Work Action Plans, Job Search Resources, Free Internet and Fax Services.

Language Supports

Translation and interpretation services.

Other Services

Other services are offered based on local community needs (such as legal services, mental health services, culturally-appropriate family counselling etc.)

The Centres are managed by a unique partnership of five immigrant serving community organizations including COSTI Immigrant Services, Catholic Community Services of York Region (CCSYR), Centre for Information and Community Services (CICS), Job Skills and Social Enterprise for Canada.
