Long application queues at all international Canadian Visa Offices are causing delays and processing times around the world are increasing steadily. So as of 1st September 2006, most applications for permanent residence under the Federal skilled Worker and Business class immigration programs are to be submitted under a new "Simplified Application Process". The McGuinty government is launching "All About Ontario," a new citizenship curriculum designed to ease newcomers' transition by teaching them more about life in this province, Ontario Minister of Citizenship and Immigration Mike Colle announced. All About Ontario' is claimed to be a part of the McGuinty government's comprehensive plan to break down barriers for newcomers.

Hassan Samimifar is bitter, and it is hard to blame him for feeling that way.

Mr. Samimifar, an Iranian national, arrived in Canada 21 years ago and immediately applied for refugee status. Until 2003 he was waiting for an answer. When his file was finally addressed, his application was refused. After an immigration hearing scheduled for early December, Samimifar could be deported to Iran by early 2007.
