The Canadian Provincial Nomination Immigration Program allows the individual
Provinces to select a number of immigrants each year that have a genuine
intention to settle there. In order to apply under the Provincial Nominee
Program, applicants must be nominated by a Canadian province or territory.
They will assess your application based on their immigration needs, whether
you can fill the labour market gaps and other criteria specific to each
province. Provincial Nominees are not assessed on the six selection factors of
the Federal program.
First you must apply to the province where you wish to settle
and complete the provincial nomination process. If you are successfully
nominated by a province you then have to make a separate application to
Citizenship and Immigration Canada for permanent residence.
The Provincial Nomination program can speed up the process of
application, however the provinces only nominate a limited number of people
under this scheme each year.
